KEY TAKEAWAYS
  • For people whose nervous systems become more anxious during stillness or breathwork, gentle movement offers another path to the same calm, regulated state — without forcing stillness the body isn't ready for.
  • The brain's map of the body (interoception and proprioception) isn't always accurate — and it updates slowly. Awareness Through Movement helps that internal map catch up to the body's present reality.
  • Trauma and chronic tension are often held as bracing in the pelvis. Gentle, novel movement can release that bracing — easing pain without force or correction.

featured Quotes
"People offer to pay me to endorse things, and I turn most of them down — but this is a full body yes. I've put the app link in my own program because if you're serious about healing your nervous system, you need this."
— Victoria Kleinsman
"It's amazing... my hips don't hurt, my back doesn't hurt, and I'm hardly doing anything. It's like magic."
— Victoria Kleinsman

Victoria is located in the Netherlands, so we recorded at 6:30am my time. For a variety of reasons, I hadn't slept the night before (even someone who has found a method to help with sleep, I have an occasional poor night's sleep), and I was nervous about how the conversation would go.

I had offered Victoria free access to Pauseture but didn't know if she'd had a chance to try it. So when she opened the episode talking about how good she felt after two weeks of using it, I was delighted. What she described is exactly why I keep having these conversations — it's hard to put into words how much can shift in a short amount of time, and she found the words.

Victoria was incredibly generous — sharing the app in her own programs and referring me to three other people in the eating disorder space. I'm still a little overwhelmed by that generosity. I hope more hosts take some time with the app before we talk, because Victoria's experience shaped this entire conversation.

I'll also say — I'm still developing as a podcast guest, and listening back, I notice how much I explained rather than simply being in dialogue. I'd love to talk with Victoria again and focus more on co-regulating in the conversation itself, rather than over-explaining. That's something I'm actively working on, and I'm grateful for conversations like this one to help me grow.
